My love for glass spilled over in to jewelry about 15 years ago, knowing that eventually I wanted to create my own beads. I had collected a small library of glass bead books from various artists, until my husband basically “forced” me into my first class. Marty, my husband, and our teenage son took a weekend glass beadmaking class together, and that was “IT” for all thee of us.
We have been making beads ever since, creating our own styles of colorful, whimsical pieces.
We use Italian Moretti, German Lauscha, and American Bullseye Glass. All of our pieces are fully kiln annealed and created by Martin and me. We are members of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers, as well as the Northern Cal Bead Society, and ACGA, the Association of Clay and Glass Artists. We actively participate in a non profit program called: Beads of courage (www.beadsofcourage.net) donating beads to children who are hospitalized with life threatening illness. Different colored beads signify a particular place in their journey during this time, ie: chemotherapy treatments, radiation, bone marrow aspirations.
I try to create pieces that are versatile and fun to wear. They express my love of color and exploration of where jewelry pieces can go.
